Don’t look now, but ValueClick, owner of CJ, is being examined by the FTC for the use of the word “FREE” in incentive programs. FREE IPOD, FREE XBOX 360, you name it, it seems to be free. But upon further review, these items aren’t free at all. In order to get a nice shiny Iphone, the consumer must purchase enough merchandise to earn his way to a free Iphone, and then still sign up for pages of lead generation offers.
